PULSE – The Versatile Platform for Electroacoustic Testing
Testing electroacoustic devices has always been considered an important field for Brüel & Kjær, and its instruments for electroacoustic measurements have become the de-facto method of determining the acoustic performance of electroacoustic devices. With PULSE™ Electroacoustics Brüel & Kjær presents the next generation of unique instrumentation for electroacoustic testing.
The new PULSE Audio Analyzers for advanced electroacoustic testing of receivers, loudspeakers, microphones, hearing aids, headsets, telephones, MP3 players, etc., take testing a step beyond what was possible with the legendary Audio Analyzer Type 2012.
All PULSE Audio Analyzers can determine traditional electroacoustic characteristics such as Frequency Response, Harmonic Distortion, Intermodulation Distortion, Difference Frequency Distortion, Directional Response, Impedance, and Signal-to-Noise ratio, etc.
Furthermore, the PULSE platform offers features such as:
- Scaleable hardware platform including any number of input channels ranging from 2 to more than 200 in 25kHz or 200kHz analysis bandwidth. TEDS, Filtering, Microphone Input or Direct Input with input range of 160dB
- A Windows® environment for easy and quick familiarisation with PULSE software
- Multi-channel, real-time analysis for parallel measurements on different input signals
- Parallel multi-analysis for simultaneous evaluation using different analysis methods such as FFT, CPB or SSR
- Predefined application examples showing how the most commonly measured electroacoustic parameters can be measured with PULSE
- Application scripting using Visual Basic® for Applications or Visual C++® and PULSE OLE command interface, including on-line Help documenting how the various commands can be used in a Visual Basic® or any other ActiveX® programming language
- Flexible display of measurement results in 2D or 3D graphs
- Live Tolerance Check for easy validation against performance requirements. Absolute, floating, aligned or normalised tolerance checking are supported
- Easy management of measurement results using PULSE Data Manager
- Reporting in Word or Excel using pre- or user-defined report templates
- Live calculation of Loudness Rating according to ITU-T and IEEE recommendations
These are just some of the features that make Brüel & Kjær’s family of PULSE Audio Analyzers a strong tool for those working within the field of electroacoustic testing.
Besides electroacoustic testing, the PULSE platform supports a huge range of related applications such as PULSE Sound Quality for psychoacoustic evaluation of sound and PULSE Time Data Recording and Post-processing of time signals. |
